Funny Girl

The West End comes to Milton Keynes as Sheridan Smith and Chris Peluso lead the cast of Funny Girl, having enjoyed critically acclaimed sold runs in London’s West End.

The original 1964 Broadway production is a somewhat unconventional biographical comedy account of a peculiar Ziegfeld showgirl whose absolute compelling comedic capability, energy and talent, rather than her looks, see her infamous rise to celebrity. Alas her marriage to a smooth rogue and professional gambler called Nick Arnstein (Chris Peluso) is less successful.

Fifty years ago Barbra Streisand belted out signature repertories some of her most memorable film and theatre classics like ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’ and ‘People’. A jubilant Sheridan (Fanny Brice) does it her way as she transforms this classic masterfully for a modern generation of theatre goers. Skilfully navigating scene through scene with great prowess, shamefully hilarious yet revealing a reticent vulnerability.

Chris amiably plays her fractured husband with great stealth. A poignant rendition of ‘Who Are You Now’ showcases the exquisite voices of Chris and Sheridan.

Producer Sonia Friedman ensured a wholesome integrated show with impressive cast performance of some famous chorus numbers and beautiful solos.

Whether it’s ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ or even a tomato juice don’t miss your chance to be entertained, see this remarkable funny musical in all its glory.

Funny Girl is at Milton Keynes Theatre a limited run until Saturday 4th March 2017. Tickets can be purchased at www.atgtickets.com/miltonkeynes (bkg fee) or by calling their Box Office on 0844 871 7652
